Family run Chettle House in Dorset

Welcome from Peter & Fiona Bourke

My wife, Fiona, and I are delighted to welcome you to Chettle House. This has been our much loved family home for over 150 years and since we inherited the property in 2002, we have devoted our lives to its restoration and upkeep. We thus take enormous pleasure in sharing it with others.

Chettle House is an historic property of rare charm and character and we are confident that you will enjoy your visit.

Tucked away in a small Dorset village, Chettle House is a stunning Queen Anne Manor house set in 5 acres of lovely gardens.

The elegant Oak Entrance Hall is a highlight with its two flights of sweeping oak stairs, lined by fine family portraits, rising separately to meet at the balcony above.

The beautiful St Mary's Church, whose West Tower dates back to the early sixteenth century, offers a stunning backdrop to the gardens.

These gardens offer a spectacular array of planting and blend traditional design with inspired modern ideas. The result is a garden rich in atmosphere, interest and vitality.
